Eating with Braces

Some types of food are capable of breaking your brackets and damaging your wires which will prolong treatment time.

Our goal is to provide you with a beautiful, healthy smile. Below is a list of foods that when eaten in moderation, modified and with good oral hygiene, can be enjoyed while you are in braces:

How to Modify Your Food

  • Cut crunchy fruits and vegetables (carrots & apples) into small pieces
  • Break crackers and chips into very small pieces
  • Cut corn off of the cob
  • Cut ribs and chicken off of the bone

How to Enjoy Sweets

Brush your teeth (or rinse your mouth with water until you can brush) immediately after eating sweet foods and drinks to reduce tooth decay and decalcification.
