Our 2019 Fiesta San Antonio Medal

¡Viva Fiesta!

2019 Fiesta San Antonio is about to kick off here at Britton Orthodontics. We are excited to announce the release of our fourth annual fiesta medal! Thank you to our patients and others who have consistently celebrated with us! As a result of your contributions, we have been able to donate the medal proceeds to charities such as the Humane SocietyDavid’s LegacyThe Brighton Center, and The Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas.

New to the area? Fiesta San Antonio, an annual festival, takes place in April in the city since the late 19th century. It began as a single event in 1891 to honor the memory of the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto. Local women decorated carriages, baby buggies and bicycles with live flowers, then met in front of the Alamo and threw the blossoms at one another, inspiring the name “Battle of Flowers.” Subsequently, other activities were added to the flower parade, including balls, parties and a carnival. In the 1940’s commemorative coins were handed out at fiesta events; these were precursors to fiesta medals we have today.
